when you order a set top box they send one of the available models as they are generically equal. The exception is for 4k capable boxes (only two now, a DVR and non-DVR).

Xfinity supplied PODS will work with the xb3/xb6/xb7 xfinity gateways. if needed and you have xfinity complete internet (includes unlimited data), pods are supplied free as needed and determined by the gateway's analysis over time.

Thanks for the reply.

We are a BULK community, so retail specs don't apply.  We have BLAST in our contract including a Gateway.  Some of us have the Extreme a few $$ more/month.

The issue is whether the PODS with a sutiable Gateway will support the Wireless STB, which is available to us in our contract.

Maybe a Comcast Employee can answer this?

Thanks

Hi @Phast1! Thanks for posting to the Xfinity Forum. Those are great questions. The information provided by the expert is correct. Even though you are in a bulk agreement, you would still receive available compatible equipment that can be used with your X1 system. The new generation pods will work with your STB. For a list of current X1 boxes, follow this link. We are no longer offering new or upgraded Legacy (non-X1) equipment. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the clarification.  to RECAP, we have a DTA-100, I assume from your response, these are no longer supported and replaced with a X1 STB ? Which one would I expect as a replacement if the DTA fails?

The chart is very helpful, appreciate the link.

Do you have the same info for the MODEM/gateway?

Equipment changes constantly at Comcast and I want to be fully able to explain the different STB and Gateways to our residents.

thanks

Good afternoon, Phast1. I hope you're have a great week so far. I wanted to share this link with you; it's a great resource, as it includes a super helpful list of our Xfinity Gateways along with pictures to match: https://comca.st/2Y0Voy9. The requirement for the pods is to be able to pair to the Xfinity modem/gateway, so the gateway is what has to be xFi compatible. The type of cable boxes being used is not so much a concern. Furthermore- while your DTA box is an older box, it is still supported and does not need to be swapped out for an X1 box unless you'd like it to be. Hope that helps! Let us know what other questions you have. We're here to support you in anyway we can.

adding.. if you are an X1 customer the DTA may be more expensive than an add on companion set top box ($7.50/mth) or you can just use a modern Roku or amazon Fire TV device at no charge on your own home wifi.
