Service interruption and unnecessary expense
On Thursday September 10 Xfinity came to my neighbors address at [Edited: "Personal Information"] to fix their cable line. As they were working on my neighbors house our own internet went out. I discovered that our cable line was not even connected at the box, and that the cable appeared to have been cut. A service technician came to our address the morning of September 11. He informed me the cable had been fried, and that I likely had a bad neutral and that I would have to call the power company to investigate. I would also have to call my own electrician if the issue were not with the power company. The power company came and determined no issue. I then paid my electrician $85 to check my house. He too determined no issue. The morning of September 12 I had another Xfinity technician come to my house and determined that the cable line was not sending a signal. He replaced the line and the internet was working again. The faulty diagnosis of the first technician cost me another day without internet, a whole morning/afternoon of scheduling professionals to investigate the wrong issue, and spent $85 to find out their was no issue other than a bad cable that should have been properly diagnosed on the first visit. There is also the mystery of how my internet went out in the first place. Why was the cable unplugged at the box? Why did it appear cut/stripped, even though the first technician incorrectly told me it was fried? Needless to say I am not happy with how this is whole ordeal unfolded and I would appreciate some restitution.
