Service call scam???
I contacted customer service about an issue I was having and set up a technician visit for the following day. About an hour after the appointment was set I got a suspicious call from someone who wanted to confirm I had talked to advanced support and asked my name to verify my account. I was then told that a tech would be sent to my house and the call was ended. It didn't last longer than a few minutes and set alarm bells ringing. If this WAS a scam, how would they have gotten this information so quickly?

Hey there @skywise404! Thank you so much for reaching out regarding your concerns! Based on how you've described this scenario, this was a legitimate call from our Xfinity service representatives. We do conduct customer satisfaction calls in order to gauge how things are going. The agent fully authenticating you was done as a security measure as well so that any customer-specific information(visit dates/times in this case) is only given to those with permission.

I received a similar call regarding my upcoming appointment. No information was verified; however, I was asked twice if I wanted to cancel the appointment. After saying I did not want to cancel, a number was provided for me to make a different “external service” appointment vs the “inside appointment” that was scheduled. I contacted Xfinity customer support and was advised that the previous call WAS A SCAM. I have the same question- how did they get my phone number and appointment information??
