Service avaliable.....but it's not

So quick question I've had on my mind. I previously had Xfinity internet at my old house. When I sold it and moved Xfinity said it was avaliable at my new house so I set up an install appointment. The guy comes to the house and long story short, my house sits too far away and they would need to have a box, (admittedly I don't remember what he said it was), installed at my expense and it would cost around $25k. I would love to have Xfinity again for internet but I'm dang sure not paying that much out of pocket just to be able to pay them more money. Obviously I ended up canceling and he took my equipment to save me a trip but is that really a thing and does it cost that much money? I have a hard time believing a company as large as Xfinity couldn't afford to set up service to a few homes.

@NavyGuy2007 Thank you for your interest in services. When a customer wants to have services but we currently do not have the services going to that home we can survey the home and costs to bring services to that home. Our customers do have an option to pay for costs to their home. If you have spoken with additional homes in your area that would like to get services I suggest having the owners of those home reach out to check on costs for services to their home as well as this potentially may reduce the amount out of pocket for services to your home. It is not a guarantee to lower the cost but still a possibility.
