Scripps dispute

Are you offering and free or reduced subscription offers for Hulu and Disney+ because of the scripps blackout? This is very upsetting for us.

I pay almost $300 per month for internet and cable so I can get local stations like this.  This is ridiculous.  I'm going to start shopping for alternatives.

We too pay almost $300 a month (with the recent $20 added to our bill in the last couple of months).  That is to cover the Scripps channels as well as the other offerings in the bundle for which we are paying.  You had no issues with raising the rates recently but now dispute another entity raising theirs and we as the customers are the ones who pay by not having access to what was part of the deal.  So since you are not paying for Scripps at this point, do we get a refund?

This is ridiculous. If Xfinity no longer has a contract with Scripps, then we should get a rebate for loss of service. It’s time to start shopping around. We have been loyal customers for many years, but this has gone too far with no communication on a resolution.

Hello @user_528296, thank you for your comment. We understand how inconvenient this situation has been, and we sincerely apologize for the frustration it may have caused. At this time, a credit or discount is not being applied. If a new agreement with E. W. Scripps, the owner of these broadcast stations, is not reached, we will review and evaluate any potential impact on current or future charges. We’ll be sure to share updates as more information becomes available.

I’m giving Comcast a few days to figure this out then I am dropping them. I will soon have a fiber option from a non-Xfinity source. I am tired of paying them so much for service that gets worse and worse. This is not some random weird channel im

missing… it is my ABC affiliate.

So we are being told that we can pay the same monthly fee, but receive much less channels —than are being directed to pay additional fees for separate programming channels just to have something to watch.

Tried calling and speaking with a CSR who repeatedly advised that I purchase an upgraded package to receive the lost programming — while all notices state there is no Scripps service.  So no training for agents either.
Who is in charge of running (or destroying) the company now.

Hi there @Kurts34 Thank you so much for reaching out on our Xfinity Community Forum.  I'll be happy to assist.  Can you confirm your initial concern?  Were you interested in lowering your rate, but keeping the exact same service?

How can they keep the same service of there are channels that they can no longer get? I pay $360 a month and I no longer get ABC, GRIT, Court TV and other channels, so I would appreciate it if I could get the EXACT SAME SERVICE that I was getting before, which would include the recently deleted channels!

When will the Scripps contract dispute be resolved?  It is ridiculous that we have no access to NBC network programing in our local market in West Palm Beach for the past five days. Xfinity needs to do better !

Let me add my disgust and resentment that Comcast pulled the plug on Scripps last week with absolutely NO advance notice and in the middle of a local newscast; that the time interval without getting our local NBC affiliate is getting ridiculously long; that if Comcast does not have the customer decency to refund us proportionately for the loss of two local channels, then Comcast should use this unethical windfall profit at the expense of its customers to mitigate our charges when there is an agreement. And I acknowledge the "fake" (not original "true-blue") Bell system is just as bad.

Scripps is CBS in my area.  I have planned for months around watching the Masters.  I WILL be looking at alternative entertainment providers than Xfinity; especially considering how much we pay each month.  Your dispute is ridiculous and you are using your customers as leverage.  Totally unacceptable!

I agree that there should be a substantial rebate without having to go through 10 steps with the Chat Bot only to find a service rep who has no idea what you're asking for....more than annoying!

Hello @user_go22xj, Thanks for reaching out about the loss of channels owned by E. W. Scripps. This programming is currently unavailable as Comcast’s agreement with the network has expired. Please know Comcast pays programmers to bring you the entertainment you love, and a number of reasonable offers have been made that they haven’t accepted. Comcast is working toward bringing back this programming, but only with fair pricing, terms, and conditions for customers. I know unexpected changes to your TV lineup can be frustrating, and I apologize for any inconvenience. For more information, visit https://www.xfinity.com/programmingchanges.
