Scammed by Xfinity

Like hundreds (maybe thousands) of other Xfinity customers, I have been receiving multiple calls, texts and emails every day for several months from (888)266-2278. According to your (Xfinity) representatives, this is a legitimate Xfinity number, but it is being spoofed by “bad actors” who are scamming your customers. Your representatives are also cautioning customers not to block the number because it is a legitimate number and you may need to contact us.

Well, I’m blocking the number and advising everyone else to do so as well. I’m not going to continue receiving countless calls every day from a “bad actor” trying to rip me off. Xfinity should be able to find an alternative way to contact its customers. The burden should not be on us.

it seems clear that Xfinity is not taking this security breach seriously (despite the endless apologies for the inconvenience). There are an increasing number of viable (if not superior) options available for internet service. I don’t think this issue is going to help Xfinity maintain a firm grip on its market share if you don’t convince your customers that you are serious about protecting their data and preventing them from being scammed by “bad actors” using legitimate Xfinity resources.

If Xfinity (the biggest communications company in the world) can’t protect their own data, why should we trust them with ours?
