Scam?

Last week I initiated a transfer for a move of my Wi-Fi router to my new address next month. Last night, I received a call stating she was from Comcast construction department. In the voicemail she said that there was an audit done on my house to see if they could service it, and they now need to do a construction survey. She said she will be cancelling my installation. However, there has been no cancellation on my Xfinity account for the installation. I don’t need construction done at my home and all I did on the website was initiate my move. Is this a scam?

user_yydusp I would be happy to confirm if that call was from us or not for you.

Can you send us a direct message with your full name, name of account holder (if different), and service address please?

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon (speech bubble)

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

- As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

- An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it

Sorry, I don't have access to the construction teams notes on when they plan on getting everything done. If you don't mind, I would be happy to put in a request ticket that they would update for me to see as well to keep up dates as this progresses.

I reviewed the new location, and your order was cancelled as this home is marked as unserviceable at this time. The call was real, and we need to do a site survey first to see if we can reach it with our current lines or have to extend. You should be getting follow-ups on the matter from the construction team, and we can keep an eye on this as well to see if the location becomes serviceable. We have never had service here, and if it is marked as serviceable in the near future, a tech install will be needed to connect the line to the home outlets as well, but we can get back to that after we make sure we can service it. I appologize for any confusion this has caused.

I suggest you get in touch with whatever company services the area where the house is located.
