Scam?

I received a call from the number 1800-423-4142. They knew the name on the account along with recent changes made to the account. They stated our new 1g internet plan doesn’t include unlimited data and that for extra charge we can add it back(which is not what the xfinity advisor told me when i changed it so it threw me off). Stuck wondering now was this a scam or actually xfinity?

Thank you very much for reaching out to us here @Kola519. That number does not look to be an Xfinity number. You can contact our security team at https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/report-abuse/ to report and have them investigate that for you. If you need to confirm the recent changes on your account you can send me a direct message with your full name and complete address.

To send a direct message [private message]:

Click the "Direct Message" icon or  https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there.

   - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.

   - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

   Press Enter to send it

This just happened to me just now. Luckily I viewed this forum and realized it was false. Xfinity please look out for your customers and send a mass communication about this fraudulent activity especially when it’s happening to so many! Place your customers first. An elderly person may easily fall for this scam. Thanks.

This happened to me today and I got off the phone before giving them my birthdate and ss# they claimed they were going to give me a new phone. So I am glad I was able to get on this forum and see that it was not official.

Same thing. They’ve called me 5 times in the past few weeks, usually after 7pm. I picked up the first time and the last, and it was the same woman’s voice both times with the calls being weeks apart.

Xfinity why haven’t you advised us all of this scam as your customer? It comes in as Xfinity. It’s unacceptable we aren’t informed. I had to view the number as I’m speaking to this individual to realize it’s a scam. Please look out for your customers. Gratefully I wasn’t fooled.

This just happened to me. They called me 3 times just now trying to inform me that my “Internet was not unlimited.”

Thankfully I was quick on my feet and decided to search the number while the person was rattling off their spiel.

Definitely needs to be some kind of mass comm regarding this every 30 days or so, so that it is fresh on the minds of customers and so that they don’t fall victim to such a scam.

This LITERALLY just happened to me from the exact same phone number!!! It came up on my phone as "Xfinity". He was explaining the SAME scenario to me about my wifi, & then proceeded to ask me my name & billing address...which if you ARE Xfinity, you'd already know it.

I told them, I don't feel comfortable giving you my info & the call ended.
