SCAM

On Monday night 12/12/2022, my internet service was disconnected for few hours due to plan maintenance.  I did not know at the time, and I called customer service.

I talked to a male customer service, he did not say what his name is

He asked me to pay the bill which is on autopay and there is a message that Xfinity can't accept payment on the  phone.

He then put me on hold then asked me to pay $55 for a tech to upgrade the software for my internet router which is a rental one.  I refused to pay and he threatened me for not having internet service and asked me not call back the same number to  ask for help again.

I called back to ask to talk to the supervisor on site and talked to the lady name Susan. She transferred the call to the mail box.  The male customer service called me right back and pretended he is a supervisor on site.  I told him that I will file formal complaint.

My guess is he was trying to get my credit information since he already has my name and  address.

with the scam going on, please do something to these employees.

I'm worry now and maybe looking for internet service elsewhere.

@user_02afa8, thank you for coming to the community forum for further assistance, and thanks for sharing details about your recent experience. I'm sorry to hear these concerns, and would love to help however I can! My first question is about how you contacted us when these interactions took place. May I have you provide the phone number you dialed to reach the individuals mentioned above?

@user_02afa8 The only primary customer support numbers for Xfinity would be

1-800-XFINITY (934-6489) or 1-800-COMCAST (266-2278). These numbers can always be found on www.xfinity.com and on your billing statement. Any other number would not be a valid Xfinity customer support number, and we do suggest reviewing this article for tips to protect yourself against fraud in the future.

If any personal information or payment information was provided on this call, I would strongly advise changing your Xfinity password, setting up 2-factor authentication and contacting your banking institution.

I no longer work for Comcast.
