scam text?
I got a text stating that I had requested a password change. I had not requested a change. I texted with a rep named Mahesh who kept me in the text for 45 minutes, just to tell me that 1. "the message was just for app security awareness and the the security alert (it was not a security alert) only goes to our valuable top priority customers. " and 2. "Comcast doesn't send any messages: these are old system-generated messages received by the customer. " I don't even know what he was trying to tell me. All I know is that I don't trust Xfinity texts and I don't know if my account is compromised.
I couldn't break through the wall on a phone call.
Geez.

Hey there user_buidxd 👋 I appreciate you letting us know about the suspicious text you received recently, and you've come to the right place for help! When it comes to resetting your Xfinity password, the process only requires a six-digit verification code to be sent to your verified phone number, and when received, dopes not disclose the nature of the code whatsoever. If you received a text message specifically stating you requested a password reset, it's safe to say that message was not from Xfinity, so I wouldn't recommend tapping any links or redirects it may have come with.
Anytime you feel like you've received a suspicious text message or even email, you can help us by reporting it directly to our Customer Security Assurance team for further review at internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/report-abuse 👍 There's also the FTC webpage on Scams you can check out full of great information at any time!

I'm not surprised to discover that the internet security link that you shared doesn't really have a place to go to report this password concern. I'd like to just walk away; hopefully I did nothing that would put my account or money in danger. For what it's worth, my 45 minutes on a text with a Comcast rep were wasted. Most of the time was spent waiting, with a closer runner-up of time wasted while the rep thanked me for being patient. If he had actually been doing something beneficial, my patience would not have been needed. Quite honestly, in my little town, Comcast and Fidium are my only options and at the moment, Comcast is $5 less per month. If that changes, I'll be gone.
