Scam email
From You,
I received what I believe is a scam Xfinity email saying that I am going to be charged $299 for an internet security plan, the email is from “billing helpdesk” and is signed “GeekS Tech Xfinity Inc”. Is this a scam? I know that the free Norton security ends in January but I did not sign up for the replacement service.

I have been thru the same experience 12-05-2020 and again on 12-07-2020. The 2nd time they accessed my computer thru the comcast interface and used Comcast logos and identifying itself as Comcast Billing Center. When I told them if there were any refund and monetary issues they should send me a letter detailing the issues. They did try to access my banking but it was protected thru a double password protection. I managed to uninstall all of their programming in my computer and will run more intensive software to counter their actions. Unfortunately, they did not leave an IP Address behind..that would have been too easy. DON'T FIGHT WITH THEM ON THE PHONE..JUST HANG UP!!!

GeekS Tech Xfinity Inc reported as SCAM. Is Comcast sharing billing information with these creeps? It appeared that they were able to hit one of the poster's bank but could not get any money. I spoke to the clown on the phone and immediately after hanging up on him, my wifi was blocked. The whole gateway was down, with a block like a parental block??? Who could do this? Someone from Comcast India moonlighting as a scammer? I'm a bit nervous as to what else they could have done. Calling the bank and letting them know not to give GeekS Tech Xfinity Inc a cent!
The bad thing is that Comcast is the only game in town, and a lot of elderly have their interconnect through Comcast in the building my daughter lives in. They won't know it's a scam.

Hi @curisa, and thank you for posting to the Xfinity Forum. I can totally understand your concerns regarding situations like this and assure you these types of scams and situations aren't anything that Comcast wants our customers to be affected by. I am also concerned about our elderly customers who may not be aware of such scams. If you should happen to know any family or friends who receive emails like this, please advise them to contact the Customer Security Assurance Team (CSA), so we can look into this right away. The easiest and most convenient way would be by the link provided above (Report Abuse), or they can call them directly at the number listed on the website between 6:00 am - 2:00 am EST, 7 days a week. I hope this helps!

I got one of these emails today, too. This is one of the best phishing mails I've seen - I almost fell for it until I noticed the giveaway spelling errors. It does make me wonder if someone in Comcast overseas is trying to make a quick buck.
