Scam calls after setting up appointment

As the title says, I'm getting scam calls from an 855 phone number after talking to tech support & since they couldn't resolve my issue they schedule someone to come to my home. Made an appointment last week for a tech to come out Friday to see if they can find out what's causing the problem, within 30 minutes I received a call claiming to be Comcast, I nearly fell for it but my gut said not to give any personal info. I told him I wasn't authorized to give him any info & refused to give my name. After I hung up I googled the number & saw it definitely is a scam.

The issue still isn't resolved a week later, I called & spoke with a tech for over 2 hours trying to see if they could help, but they couldn't & again, set up an appointment to come out. Again... I received a call from the same 855 number (I'm not sure how they're getting through as I have the number blocked). I told him I didn't have time for his scam call, he ignored what I said & continued to try to give me his nonsense.

I want to know how & why it's getting "leaked" to these scammers we have technicians coming to the house. Is Comcast selling our info & phone numbers? This should NOT be happening.

Hi there @Iris70

I appreciate you taking the time to reach out and let us know about these calls you are getting. I know getting scam calls can always be an issue and a huge concern.

We will typically not reach out and ask you for your personal information. If you are receiving scam calls from people pretending to be from Comcast, we recommend you report it to the FTC. You will need the name and number of the caller and date and time of the call.

I will leave a link below which will contain the contact info for the FTC along with other great tips on protecting yourself from scam callers!

@XfinityLysa

What I forgot to mention in my post is, aside from the fact they're impersonating Comcast employees, I want to know how they know the date & the time frame the tech is scheduled to come out. I'm not concerned about protecting myself from these scammers, I know how to do that. It's the fact they're telling me "October 2nd between xxx am & xxx am they'll arrive" How are they getting this? I'll repeat what I said earlier, is our information being sold? For all we know, the calls that are outsourced out of the US are selling it.

I will report the calls, but that doesn't stop some innocent person falling for the scams because they hear the caller identify themselves as Comcast employees & thinking since they know their appointment time frame, they must work for Comcast.

I'm sorry to hear this is happening to you and I can only imagine how frustrating this must be for you. I would also recommend reaching out to our Customer Security Assurance team they can be reached at 1-888-565-4329 between 8:00am - 12:00am EST, 7 days a week.

I no longer work for Comcast.
