Scam about Xfinity

Received a call from [Edited: "Personal Information"] that Xfinity was offering a 50% discount.  The offer was to pay
this month's bill if I would pay my statement six months in advance.  Told me to call [Edited: "Personal Information"] and give the billing.

department code XFI779.  Sent a text showing a confirmation number.  In addition, I would have to pay with a Target gift card.

I stated I didn't want this, and it sounded like a scam. The agent stated that it would. cost me $500.00 to cancel.  I hung up and

felt as dumb as a bucket of rocks.  I had taken the bait.  The phone numbers displayed as Xfinity. Hopefully my first and last scam.

I called Xfinity, to report the scam, and a pending payment was indeed showing on my account.  I

ask Xfinity to cancel that payment as I did not make it.  The customer service agent stated

they could not reverse the payment.  What a mess.  There is no telling what is going to become

of this.  Learned a valuable lesson though, stupid will cause you to waste a ton of time.

Hello @lhornsby_sport1 Don't be so hard on yourself. Scammers are always coming up with new ways to scam people. I recently learned about his particular one where they make payments to your account or send you money. Here at Comcast we take this very seriously. I want to provide you with this link that provides information about fraud and how your can report it https://www.xfinity.com/idtheftclaimform?linkId=144147519 If you would like us to review your account please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address.

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

 - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

 - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it

@Ihornsby_sport1

Well done, and thank you for letting us know here! I am sorry this happened to you. The people doing this are just wrong. It was totally normal of you to want more information about something that could save you money. Have you heard back from the Customer Security Assurance Team? If so, what was the outcome if you don't mind sharing with the community?

I no longer work for Comcast.
