right internet plan?

My bill for my "triple play" lists my Internet plan as Superfast.  I just did the Xfinity speedtest

and I had a speed of 279, which I assume is the fastest my older modem is capable of. Am I paying more for a plan

the is useless to me, or if I reduced the plan would I still get as high as 279?

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

Hi, @tbill1! Welcome back to the Xfinity forums page and thank you for your time spent in reaching out. We will be happy to help with the speed inquiry. What is the make and model of your modem? In our North East division, the Superfast internet speed is 800 Mbps / 20 Mbps. We can definitely switch you to a slower speed if that works best for your household needs. Can you tell us a bit about how you like to use the internet service and about how many devices you usually have connected at the same time?

Arris TM822g.   2 IMacs, 3 iPads, and 2 Iphones are connected-along with my X1 service.  I mostly browse websites and watch youtube videos.

But I don't want a reduction in speed from what I already have.  Thank you

I would just like to know if I could reduce my plan without losing my speed, since my modem is not capable of higher speeds.

But because of my many devices and streaming services, if I still need that super fast plan, then I need to know that.

I completely understand, @tbill1 ! If changes were made to the internet speed at which you subscribe to, it may impact how fast your download and upload are. Typically when you look into dropping speeds, the upload speed would go lower too. The speed very likely would be included in your bundled pricing as you mentioned the Triple Play. If your modem does not support the max speed, it would be whatever your modem is capable of handling. If you have many devices connected and streaming, I would say remaining at the higher speed would likely be the best for your household.

We can still certainly explore any options available for you, and make sure your household needs are fully met. You can send a DM if you wish to proceed with looking into everything fully.
