Requesting waiver of a $100 Technician Recovery fee (billed Jul 31)
I’m asking for a $100 “Technician Recovery” charge on my July 31 bill to be reviewed and removed. Here is the full timeline:
1. I self-installed service at a new apartment. Speeds were far below what I’m paying for.
2. I called and a technician was dispatched. He spent several hours testing and concluded the coax outlet I was using was bad. He moved my connection to a different outlet.
3. That did not fix the problem. The technician left with my service still in the same degraded state. The visit did not resolve the issue it was dispatched for.
4. Afterward, I reported the continuing slow speeds. Xfinity ran remote testing and determined the rented modem was faulty. I obtained a replacement modem, and the service has worked correctly since.
So the root cause was faulty Xfinity-owned rental equipment. Xfinity’s stated repair policy is that a $100 charge applies only when the root cause is customer-owned equipment or inside wiring, and that there is no charge when the root cause is Xfinity’s network, lines, or equipment. That policy plainly covers my situation.
I’d also note the fee is billed as an installation/Technician Recovery charge, which is meant to cover completing an installation. The technician did not complete anything — I left that visit with the same problem I started with, and it took a modem swap after the fact to fix it.
Please pull my account and the technician’s work order notes, along with the remote diagnostic that identified the failed modem, and credit the $100. Happy to provide account details by direct message.
