Requesting Member-Owned Router option

Hello Xfinity Support,

I currently have Xfinity 2 Gbps residential EPON fiber service with an XER10 gateway and a separate optical network unit (ONU).

I would like to switch to the Member-Owned Router option announced in July 2026 and connect my Ubiquiti UDM-SE directly to the ONU.

Please arrange for the EPON provisioning team to:

  1. Change my account to the customer-owned router (COAM) configuration.

  2. Remove the XER10 as my active gateway.

  3. Push the appropriate ONU boot-file update to disable MACsec.

  4. Enable my UDM-SE to receive a public IP address directly from the ONU.

  5. Confirm that my existing 2 Gbps service and pricing will remain unchanged.

I am not requesting bridge mode or a second router behind the XER10.

Please confirm eligibility and the provisioning changes required. Thank you.

This process worked successfully.

I would like to clarify one point in my original request, which was drafted with the assistance of AI. Step 4 incorrectly suggests that Xfinity is responsible for enabling DHCP. Ensuring DHCP is enabled and properly configured on the user's own router is the user's responsibility, not Xfinity's.

I have a static IP address, and my speeds have remained unchanged at 2.2+ Gbit/s typically in both directions.

One thing I would like to point out: Once Xfinity offers the option for a direct chat, start the conversation by providing your name and street address. This information is included in the instructions, but it is easy to overlook.

I am going to mark this as a good answer and will try to check back over the next few months to confirm that my rate lock has not been affected. The chat session did not really address that particular concern.

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.
