Requesting Investigation - Property Damage
I am writing to formally request an investigation into damage to our underground power line that left our property without power or hot water for over 72 hours.
The damage appears to have been caused by utility work in the area by Frontier or Xfinity, both who have laid fiber optic or cable lines in the vicinity of our existing power service. No notice was given regarding the damage, and no utility company has stepped forward to accept responsibility.
As a result of this damage, we have been forced to hire Pioneer Electric to dig a trench, lay new conduit, and run new power wire to restore service to our property. The total estimated cost for this work is approximately $13,000, an expense that we should not be responsible for if the damage was caused by a utility provider or their contractors.
I am requesting your assistance in:
1 Investigating which utility provider or contractor is responsible for the damage.
2 Determining whether there was a failure to follow Tennessee’s “Call Before You Dig” (811) requirements or other applicable regulations.
3 Providing a path to recover the costs incurred to restore power to our property.
This is a significant financial burden caused by the negligence of one or more utility providers, and we are seeking accountability and restitution.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. I am happy to provide invoices, photos, and any additional documentation you require to support your investigation.
