Request to Remove XER10 Router and Provision Nokia ONT for Personal Router – EPON Fiber

Subject: Request to Remove XER10 Router and Provision Nokia ONT for Personal Router – EPON Fiber

Hello Xfinity Support,

I currently have Xfinity fiber internet with the following equipment:

  • ONT: Nokia NKFN11AEL 10G-EPON

  • Xfinity Router: XER10 (SCER11BEL)

  • Personal Router: TP-Link Archer BE900 Wi-Fi 7

My current configuration is Nokia ONT → Xfinity XER10 → TP-Link BE900.

The XER10 does not support bridge mode, so I am forced to run two routers, resulting in double NAT. My XER10 Wi-Fi is already disabled, and my BE900 is configured in the Xfinity DMZ.

I have been experiencing intermittent connectivity problems with smart-home devices and have extensively troubleshot my network.

I understand Xfinity began supporting customer-owned routers on eligible EPON fiber connections in July 2026.

I am requesting the following:

  1. Confirm whether my fiber service is eligible for a customer-owned router connected directly to the Nokia ONT.

  2. Escalate this request to the EPON fiber engineering/provisioning team.

  3. Reprovision my ONT/ONU as necessary so my TP-Link Archer BE900 can connect directly without requiring the XER10.

  4. Explain any equipment or account changes needed to complete the transition.

I have already attempted connecting my BE900 directly to the Nokia ONT, but it did not establish internet connectivity.

I would like to eliminate the XER10 entirely and use my BE900 as my primary router.

Please do not make changes to my active service until the process and eligibility have been confirmed.

Thank you for your assistance.
