Rented gateway

Xfinity is charging me 15/m for a gateway I purchased.   The problem is that i purchased the same gateway that xfinity is renting (XB7-T).

XFINITY claim to have a monopoly of that gateway, and if I purchased it the item I purchased was probably stolen.   I would like xfinity to prove that they a legal monopoly of this gateway and to provide a proof of their ownership.

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

@user_0bxnlo Xfinity does not resell Wireless Gateways and if you purchased the device in question from a third party vendor such as eBay, marketplace, or Craigslist, you'd need to take up a claim with them to possibly receive a refund for the purchase. If it has the Xfinity brand on the modem or states property of Comcast, it is a rental modem that you purchased from an unauthorized reseller. Anytime one of our pieces of equipment is registered to an account, it will come with its respective monthly rental fee. If you wanted to avoid the monthly rental fee and use your own equipment you would have to ensure the modem you purchase is a device we support and return the rental equipment now registered to your account. You can view all of the modems we support through our device lookup tool.
