Reinstate Comcast / Remove Old Addresses
Hey Xfinity,
I just moved into a new place and I'm trying to get Xfinity setup again. I still have my router, I told Xfinity that I was only disconnecting my service for a handful of months (I was staying with my grandma to help her out when she had a bad case of COVID), and I'll be hooking my router back up when I move. I'm trying to do so now, but Comcast is A) Trying to charge me $100 saying I owe them my router and B) Won't let me sign up for service, it keeps asking me if I'm trying to sign up for one of my old addresses.
So basically, I'm hoping to just get my internet plan back, remind Comcast *again* that I'm not stealing your router, I'm trying to use it again right now, and I need those old addresses removed. Let me know if you need more info, or if this isn't the place to post this. Thanks!
Matt

Hi there, @mrichey12. Thank you for creating this post in our forums. I will be more than happy to assist you. When you disconnect service at a previous address or even an address you currently live in, you need to return all equipment that you have rented from Xfinity. If you wish to reinstate service after 30 days of when they were canceled, the service cannot be reconnected with the same service you had before as at that time, it would be considered new service. The reason as to why it is not allowing you to reconnect the service using the same equipment, is because that equipment was assigned to the account and service you had previously. Once you cancel service, you have 30 days to return that equipment or you will be charged an unreturned equipment fee. However, that fee can be credited back to the account if the equipment is returned to us. Unfortunately, we would not be able to reactivate an old account as you would need to start new service and the equipment will need to be returned to remove any unreturned equipment charges.
