Reimbursment for uneeded new cable

3-hour service call for bad signal in one room resulted in tech recommending that the "home run" cable in attic be replaced. My electrician replaced cable at a charge of $300! Problem persisted. Another service tech came out, replaced the set top box and it works!  How do i get reimbursed for all or part of the unecessary expense of $300?
