Received a package from Xfinity addressed to my home but with someone else's name on it

Hello,

On June 8th 2024 someone created a new Xfinity account and mistakenly put my address on it, which triggered the termination of service at my address. I was able to resolve this issue at the nearest Xfinity store -- that account was deleted and cancellation of service reversed. However today (June 12th 2024) I received a package from Xfinity that is meant for the person who created the erroneous account. I obviously don't need this package, it was sent to me by mistake and the mistake was not mine. If you'd like this package back I'm open to scheduling a pick up time, please advice the best way to arrange that. Thanks!

@vadimkotov  Thanks for letting us know. Customers can schedule a package to return, but only through their account. For these instances, or when the account is fully closed, UPS will accept any device and ship it back to us for free. A local Xfinity store will accept it as well, but a UPS store usually has more locations. Find the nearest one with the links here https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/returning-your-equipment. Totally not your responsibility and we get its not fun dealing with it, but we appreciate your efforts in returning the device.

@XfinityBenny Thank you for the prompt response! This delivery was done by FedEx, should I drop it off there or should it specifically be UPS?

@vadimkotov Our thanks to you, and indeed. We do ship some home and mostly mobile stuff through FedEx, but returns are handled by UPS. We have a contract with them to incentivize any returns to us. They'll create a label and send it back for free no questions asked, just be sure it's a store and not a drop off center. Again, this shouldn't have happened and we appreciate you a ton for engaging with us, and being part of the Xfinity family.

Just read the above note.  The same thing happened to us with Xfinity being notified that we wanted to close our account.  We never did that.  A few days later we also received a package delivered by FED EX with our address but a different name.  We are very concerned that our account was hacked.  It seems too incidental since it happened to the previous writer also.
