Real or fake phone number?

I received a phone call followed by a voicemail saying they were from Comcast Xfinity on Oct,30,2025 4:50 pm stated they had processed a cancelation of a 50% discount on my monthly bill due to no response. If this wasn't your intention you must call the number on your caller ID immediately. Otherwise your bill will return to the full rate thank you. I thought about calling it and then decided to ask about the number on here. [Edited: "Malicious Phone Number"]. I just don't want to get scammed out of money I can't afford to lose.

... a cancelation of a 50% discount on my monthly bill ...

Such calls, texts, and emails are from scammers, especially if you are asked to pay in advance, by gift card, or with cryptocurrency (bitcoin and similar). See https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/customer-service/target-gift-card-scam-beware-they-are-good/6785304bec3cb6282636396d for a description of what happens if you fall for one of these scams.

Greetings, @KL1964! I hope your week has been treating you well. Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your busy day to leave a post on our community forum about this call. You have definitely come to the right place for assistance.

I tend to agree with @BruceW on this one. Any time a caller presents you with an arbitrary deadline or pushes you to make a decision quickly, that usually indicates the call is not legitimate.

If you would like to see what options are available to reduce your rate, please feel free to send our team a direct message with your full name, the name listed on the account (if different), and the service address associated with your account, and we'd be more than happy to look into this for you.

To send a Direct Message, please click on the “Direct Message” icon in the top-right corner of the screen, next to the bell icon, click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon, then type or select "Xfinity Support". Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window and press Enter to send your message and initiate a live session.
