Possible scam

Beginning of April I received a modem kit with my address but a different unknown name. I still have it because I haven’t had a chance to return it. Then earlier this week I get a letter in the mail. Again, correct address, unknown name. It’s a different name than the name that was on the modem. Today I got another bill. This name matches the same name on the modem box I got in April. What is going on? Is this identity theft? Has anyone dealt with this? Also Xfinity canceled my service and I had to sign up all over again and even got a credit check! Absolutely ridiculous. Can someone please tell me if this is a scam?

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

user_6vz07g Thanks for reaching out to us about a recent concern with equipment and account issues. Let me take a look at the service address and your account to see what is going on. From the sound of what you said it may be someone tried setting up services and likely put in the wrong address, but you should have been notified right after the order was placed to cancel it. I'll be happy to look into what is happening for you, and get it fixed.

Can you send us a direct message with your full name, name of account holder (if different), and service address please?

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" If necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon (speech bubble)

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person".

Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it
