Possible Scam. Is this standard practice?
My outside internet line was cut on 11/30/2022. A comcast rep set up an appointment for me on December 1st between 10am and 12pm. Just before 8am I was awoken to a knock at my door. Someone dressed up in Xfinity looking gear with an Xfinity wrap on their van was out front. (Looked legitimate, but very strange to arrive over two hours early at this time of day).
The individual patched my line (seemed strange as the last technician told me he wasn't allowed to patch it and instead had to replace the entire cable) and got my service up and running.
She then informed me the work was completed, I verified connectivity, and then she asked me to go ahead and cancel the appointment I had scheduled for the 10am-12pm window. This was a big red flag. She mentioned she wanted to get this one on her way into work so that it could free up the other technician's time, but it sounds sketchy.
I called Xfinity earlier today to see if there were any notes on her visit, and I was told there was not.
Here are my concerns:
1) Why are there no notes around her visit?
2) Why didn't she have access to complete my appointment?
3) I'm worried that some hardware might have been attached to my coax cable or the box in my neighbor's yard to track my data.
It's possible she was just poaching someone else's work, but I would like to have this looked into as there were at least 2 red flags from this visit.
