Portaging home phone # to Xfinity

I ordered home phone service from Xfinity.  I received a call this morning claiming that I needed to confirm portaging my phone number.

1) Is this real or a scam?

2) If real, how do I confirm?  The AI chat is utterly useless.

Hi user_zpz4qw, thank you for starting your phone service with us. That would be an odd call to get out of the blue, so I get it. Plus, this time of year you need to be on alert with those scams. Were you porting your phone number from a different carrier to Xfinity? If so, you would need to confirm the port from your previous carrier.

user_zpz4qw, I can review your account to confirm if there is a pending order and if that order is pending an incoming port. In order to get started can you please send a direct message to Xfinity Support with your full name and full address by clicking the chat icon in the top right? Here's the detailed steps to direct message us:

• Click "Sign In" if necessary

• Click the "Direct Message” icon (upper right corner of this page)

• Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

• Type "Xfinity Support" in the to line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list

• Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

• Press Enter to send your message
