Plan Expiring

My double play plan is expiring in a few weeks.  I would like to renew or get something similar without incurring increased charges.  Called customer service and they told me I should call back a day prior to the expiration.  I'm sure Comcast would like to retain me as a customer and offer me a comparable plan and rate.
