@user_o8re8a Thank you for taking the time to help out your 91 year aunt. I used to help my grandmothers with this sort of thing all the time.

Did you by chance see my colleagues question on your previous post? If not, here's what she wrote:

"Since you’re confirming there has been no dial tone at all and the home phone has never worked since the service was moved from Verizon, we want to focus on whether the line was fully activated and provisioned correctly rather than having you repeat the same troubleshooting again."

"Can you confirm whether the home phone is plugged directly into the TEL 1 port on the back of the Xfinity gateway and whether you see a telephone light illuminated on the gateway? That will help us narrow down whether this is an activation issue or something with the physical phone connection."

The one phone will work that’s plug straight in too modern.but if I plug the modem in too the house phone jack so I can get phone in other rooms to work  the phone becomes inoperable and all incoming calls are sent straight to voice mail

@user_o8re8a  Oh okay, the service does work, thank you for confirming. That is the normal process to connect home phones to voice over internet protocol service. You're trying to use it like the old phone service and run it through the house. We recommend checking this https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/requirements-for-equipment-used-with-phone guide to ensure everything is in proper place or polarity. If it doesn't work you have the ability of using a phone that has a base, and satellite units to use in other rooms.

I am still confused this house had Verizon home line and that was …it Verizon  doing away with it  so I came to Xfinity.the phone did work in all rooms when with Verizon. so I would think it meets all requirements do I need to unhook Verizon line at outside phone connection or is just disconnect good enough..I would think if you plug in house jack all phones would work. But all it does is send all incoming calls to voicemail and no dial tones if I unhook from wall the one phone I plug to modem it works fine   So help would be greatly appreciated thanks Larry

@user_o8re8a The service works, so from there you'd want to focus on the wiring. Causes for it not working can be feedback from wrong connections or bad cables, to lines that don't match what is needed. The main suggestion is to use a base with satellites. That bypasses all the wired requirements and health/connections in the home. The guide we posted helps, and yes you want to isolate the home from any other service providers for ours to work correctly. A tech onsite would be able to determine the cause of the issue, but wouldn't be able to run new phone cables or replace any of the wiring inside the home.

And I assume there would be a charge to have someone out even thought it’s only been a week since install
