Phishing Scam on My Xfinity Account

I received a call on my office phone this week from xfinity (my office phone is not on my xfinity account) telling me there was a problem with the account and therefore I was losing my 50% discount and my card would be charged a $1,000 charge. I believe this was a scam. Could you please confirm. I tried to call xfinity customer service; however, I'm convinced that the automated system is specifically designed to never allow you to speak to a Live Agent. It was so bad my wife told me to cancel xfinity and move to ATT. What is the issue?
