Pay for nothing

Are people aware service can only be put on hold for a minimum of 90 days?  I have someone in a memory care unit who has been in the hospital for a week with 4 more weeks to go.  My options are either continue to pay for nothing or cancel his service and set up a new acct when he gets back to his residence.  I would have to return equipment and go back to set it up again.  I have enough stress with a sick person with dementia in a hospital without having to go through all this.  I guess the option easiest for me under the circumstances is to pay for nothing.  Xfinity wins again.
