NOW internet question

I see that Xfinity has these new NOW internet plans. unlimited data; 100Mbs for $30 or 200Mbs for $45. I was thinking of getting the 200Mbs. From what I can see, these are prepaid plans, right? Which means I can pay for 1 month and if I don't like it, simply return the equipment.

That being said, I currently have Xfinity internet (500Mbs) and TV in our house. Can I get one of these NOW plans and simply unhook my current modem and attach the NOW account modem in order to "try" it without disturbing my current account? I am thinking 200Mbs is enough for our needs, but want to make sure (for a month or 2) before fully switching

Also, do the NOW accounts come with any Comcast email addresses? Or is it JUST internet?

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

If you are interested in NOW TV, and NOW internet you can get those. NOW services require no other active service to be able to get them (except mobile). If you want just NOW internet though, you wouldn't be able to have a regular TV package with it at the same time though. Your current Email would still be usable as well with NOW internet.

Well, if I tried this NOW internet, I was looking to sign up under a whole new different name and account.

our current Comcast account is under my wife’s name. I would sign up as a new customer for NOW under my name. Planned to go to a local xfinity office to do this. Then simply swap the modems when I get home. Essentially not disturbing our current xfinity account in ANY way.

Wondering if this is a way to do it.

mfranch88 If you are keeping your original TV, and Internet service active you may run into a service conflict when activating NOW Internet at the same location. However, since the NOW Internet service will have its own Gateway, and MAC address you may not have an issue.

Yea, this is what I was thinking and hoping; separate gateway and MAC address would not interfere with current equipment. I guess one way to truly find out.

i thought I also read that the gateway they would supply is a refurbished older one, correct? I don’t have a problem with this either.

would a new NOW internet account include its own/new email addresses as well? Also, it’s own login portal? Or is is strictly internet ONLY?

@mfranch88 Great questions! The NOW Internet service customers will be getting a XB3 Xfinity Gateway. You will have a separate login portal for NOW Internet, and NOW Internet customers do not get Comcast.net email address.

Ok, thanks for the answers. One other thing I thought of and sort of the reason I am looking at this in a different way is I basically want to eventually want to have NOW internet (200mbs) and keep my xfinity basic cable tv packages (used w/ cable cards and TiVos). I need to be able to record my local AND cable access channels on my tivo.

can these 2 be used together or would I have to have 2 different accounts like of originally stated?
