Negligent contractors and subsequent damages
New Xfinity cable lines were recently installed on my road. When approached by the contractors we informed them that a conduit for cable services had already been properly installed underground at the same time as the conduit for electrical lines had been ran. This was a strategic action done by contractors during the construction of our home so that our yard wasn’t dug up again, unnecessarily. The Xfinity contractors were given exact locations of both conduits with a detailed map. We were informed that they would not be using *most* our existing conduit. They would instead dig up a new hole, right beside the existing conduit that stretched from the road, along side the entire length of our driveway until they reached our parking area. At that point they would tie into and use our existing conduit that lie beneath the gravel parking area and continue to the house.
Not only am I unhappy with the decisions stated above, subsequent damages have occurred that could have been prevented had the situation been handled correctly from the beginning. The dirt that was dug up alongside my approximately 300ft long driveway is now a small mound, roughly 8 inches above the level ground on either side of it. There is a relatively large junction box that sits unnecessarily in my yard which I will need to somehow cover up as it is a complete eyesore. Furthermore, the contractors neglected to attach a 90 degree PVC fitting at the junction box after cutting our existing conduit and instead left it laying flat on the ground at the junction box, unattached. We were not made aware that the job was unfinished and subsequently, our basement flooded with rainwater that collected in the conduit after a hard rain last week.
You can imagine our disappointment in all of the events which puts me in a difficult situation. We were extremely happy when initially made aware that Xfinity had decided to install cable lines. Satellite services were previously the only option on my road and the separate road which is attached to mine. Since building our home I’ve made several attempts to acquire the Xfinity lines that now run to my home. I went as far as to create a signed petition on behalf of my community that was used to help create awareness for the need for broadband access funding in our neighborhood. And yet it’s been over 2 months that I have been able to acquire services and have not. I would like to see these issues rectified before I move forward in becoming a faithful customer.

@user_rockhold42 I appreciate you making us aware of your experience of having the cable buried on your property via Forums. I would be more than happy to open an investigation regarding your flooded basement.
