Need tech support to reactivate my account so my phone number can be ported out

I signed up for Xfinity, planning to do a self-install, but upon receiving the device its connector didn't fit the coaxial cable in my house. I didn't want the additional expense of a service call and just decided not to proceed with Xfinity at this time. My account was closed by Xfinity before my landline number was ported back to my ISP so now Xfinity has my landline number of 34 years and I'm unable to get it back. I went to an Xfinity store today and the sales rep. said to call tech support and they could temporarily reactivate my account so my number can be ported back to my ISP. I called the number on the card he gave me, 800-934-6489,  but I don't hear anything on that phone menu that applies to my situation. Can you please help me get my phone number back?

Hello @user_127e46. We can assist in the number concern. Can you tell us how long ago you cancelled the request? If the numbers are not ported within a certain amount of time, the may get lost or given to another customer.

@XfinityBilly I notified Xfinity on July 24, that I wasn't going to proceed with using their service. I don't know exactly when they closed my account but when I went to the store the sales rep. mentioned July 25. He told me they could recover it within 30 days. He said Tech Support could reactivate my account temporarily so the number could be ported.

I don't know if this helps but my ISP looked it up and found that my number is owned by Comcast Phone of California, LLC - CA.

I sincerely appreciate any help you can provide to recover this number. Thank you

Lets take a deeper look,

Could you please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address? Our team can most definitely take a further look at this issue.

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or https://comca.st/3EqVMu7

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

- As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

- An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it

I have done this. Is there some reason I didn't get an email about this message? I just happened to come online to see what was happening and found this message from a few hours ago.

They claim they are unable to return my number. We are in our 70s and have had this number for 34 years. Maybe you can imagine how distraught we are at losing it. My 97-year-old dad has it programmed into his phone. His vision now is such that he won't be able to add a new number and make it a speed dial. We live too far from him to do it for him. And I'm sure that's only the beginning of the hassles we'll have coming up.
