Need help connecting my HP 7603 AIO to Gateway XB6 so I can fax. Tried called Xfinity to find out which things were on 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz?
I have a HP 7603 AIO Printer and my Internet is through Xfinity Gateway XB6 and it will not detect a dial tone at all? I have one line from the first telephone line on Gateway to the other 1 Line on my Printer, the 2nd line from 2 Line (EXT) to the 2nd telephone port on the back of Gateway. My phone is set to answer in 2 rings and the fax I set up to answer in 4 rings. Sometimes my fax is answering at the same time my answering machine comes on and people are trying to leave a message. Need assistance in connecting this Printer, as I don't think it's connected right. Xfinity was here (technician) and he wasn't sure how to connect and HP said it should be able to be done as long as I have those phone jacks on the back of modem and which I replied that I do.

Greetings, @user_9ueb7j! I hope your week has been treating you well. Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your busy day to leave a post on our community forum about setting up your fax machine. You have definitely come to the right place for assistance.
Can you tell me a little more about your setup? Do you currently have two lines of home phone service, with separate numbers for phone and fax? If someone called your fax line at the same time a message was being left for your home number, that could trigger the fax machine to pick up while the answering machine was recording.
As far as the Wi-Fi bands were concerned, you should be able to tell which devices were connecting to 2.4 GHz and which ones were using 5 GHz by looking at the Xfinity app. If you go to the "Wi-Fi" tab, there should be a section about halfway down called "Devices," with buttons for your connected devices, paused devices, and offline devices. If your HP 7603 AIO is listed as a connected device, you can select it and go to "Device Details" to see which Wi-Fi band it was using. The HP 7603 AIO is a dual-band device, so it will probably connect to 5 GHz if it is in the same room, or very close to, your XB6. If it is farther away, it will probably connect to 2.4 GHz, so it has a more stable connection.
