Need clarification: Qualify for Internet Essentials after 90 days of NOW?

I understand you have to NOT be an Xfinity customer for 90 days in order to be eligible to apply for Internet Essentials. A rep at my local Xfinity store said one workaround would be to 1) end my current Xfinity service, 2) start a prepaid Xfinity NOW plan and keep it for 90 days, then 3) apply for Xfinity Essentials. The guy at the Xfinity store assured me that the NOW plan is not considered "an Xfinity plan" meaning that after 90 days with NOW, I could successfully apply for Essentials (assuming that I meet the other income-based requirements). This plan involves a lot of moving parts, not to mention equipment swaps, so I'd like to get confirmation that being with NOW for 90 days will be considered the same as "not being an Xfinity customer for 90 days." Thanks in advance.

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

prymsnap If you're interested in Internet Essentials, I would reach out to them at 1-855-846-8376 as they would be able to provide you with the eligibility requirements.

Thank you, but I've already read this:

  1. The program is only available to households that (i) are located where Comcast offers Internet service; (ii) have a member of the household who is receiving a form of public assistance (“qualifying public assistance”) that is set forth on https://www.xfinity.com/learn/internet-service/internet-essentials/apply or such other URL as Comcast may designate to provide information and updates to the program and provide proof of such qualifying public assistance to Comcast in accordance with the process detailed at https://www.xfinity.com/learn/internet-service/internet-essentials/apply; (iii) do not have an overdue Comcast bill or unreturned equipment less than 12 months old; and (iv) have not subscribed to any Comcast Internet service within the last ninety (90) days (sections 1(i)–(iv) collectively are defined as “Eligibility Criteria”)

...but still cannot get confirmation as to whether or not NOW is considered "a Comcast Internet service." A rep at my local Xfinity store says NOW would not be considered "a Comcast Internet service" for the purposes of applying for Essentials, but I cannot find confirmation online. Hope you can help.

prymsnap An Internet Essentials representative would be able to give you that confirmation since you're looking to get that specific service. I don't think it does count since NOW is a prepaid service, but you would just need to check with the Internet Essentials team directly to get that confirmation.
