I would be happy to troubleshoot your gateway with you to see if I can help resolve any issues to avoid needing to replace your equipment. However, you can swap your equipment at our Xfinity Service Center at any time.  However, I do suggest scheduling an appointment by visiting the Xfinity Store Locator and entering your address.
