My modem is already registered to another account

I recently moved to a new location. Xfinity team has created a new account for me and has closed the previous account. 
Now, I am not able to use internet. 

As per the team, modem device is linked to some other account. How is that possible as I was using it ?
Could you please help my attaching my modem to new account.

Hi, @user_2260e4, how's it going? Let's take a closer look at your account since you have already spoken with us. We will review your old account, new account, and the modem to make sure we are taking the right actions to get you back online. When you have a chance send your name and service address to "Xfinity Support." You can do this by using the Direct Messaging icon at the top of the page. Once we locate your account we can work to add the modem to the new account. Are you using an owned modem or leased modem?
