Modems keep dying
I don’t know what is going in but our modems keep dying. About a month ago the modem shut down entirely, no lights or anything. I thought it was a cord issue because I had bumped it, tried replacing that, no luck. I replaced the entire thing and it worked great for a couple weeks. Then the same thing happened. Completely died, no lights even after multiple attempts to reboot/restart. I unplugged and replugged everything but no change. So I replaced it with a new one again, and it happened again about a week later. When I took the third one in, I talked to the Xfinity sales rep about my problems and what could be done to fix it. They sent someone to my house to inspect it. He saw no issues with the connection, outlets etc. yet the following week, the new modem died AGAIN. I’m running out of options. This is our fourth modem in 6 months. This is entirely unreliable as someone who frequently works from home. Help!!

The concern is not "Home Security Devices And Equipment" help related. Topic moved here to the proper help section, and for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

I am sorry to hear this keeps happening to you @user_fwud6h. Are you using a power strip to power the modem? Have you noticed any other electronics doing the same thing as your modem?

While power strips are great for some devices I personally do not use them as they can get overloaded easily and cause issues with devices. Have you tried to change the outlet you are plugging in to or the location where you have the modem? I am a customer myself and changing modems that many times in a short period isn't common.

Personally I would replace the power strip and upgrade it. You also might want to consider a battery back up and surge protector instead of a power strip. They might be a bit pricey but well worth the cost in the long run.
Also consider having an electrician in to check your electrical outlets.
