Modem installation

Hello, Marcus [Edited: "Personal Information"] here. I'd please need someone to give me written instructions on how to ask an Xfinity technician to help me set up my new Xfinity modem over the phone besides calling the 1-800 number. I use an old smartphone due to my current financial hardships. I've had friends who've had delays in trying to get an Xfinity Customer Service rep on the phone which is the reason for this question. Thank you, [Edited: "Personal Information"].

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

@user_vb2wyq I suggest removing any personal information from your public post. Are you unable to download the Xfinity App to activate and set up your home network?

@XfinityDena why would you suggest for me to remove personal info from my public post? I'm suggesting for someone to email me the steps I can take to allow a technician to assist me in setting up my modem. Also no, I cannot download the Xfinity app again since I have an older version of a smartphone.

Good morning @user_vb2wyq. We advise all of our customers to exclude personal/account information from public posts. Customers can find activation instructions below, though they will need to download the Xfinity app.

https://www.xfinity.com/activate

We are happy to assist in activating your modem. For assistance

Please send us a DM with your full name and address to Xfinity Support.

To send a direct message:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click "Direct Message"

Click the "Start new conversation" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there.

As you are typing, a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.

An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it. See the link below for an example

The Customer Service tech assisted with my concern now. My modem has been installed. Why is it recommended for me not to display my contact information on this public form in the future? Thanks everyone.
