Miss dial 800-[Edited]-6489 scammer selling support packages

I called what I thought was 1-800 xfinity but I missdialed and got a 5 instead of a 3.  The lady ask a few questions and refused to discuss anything other then a service package for I think it was $99.  I was like listen lady, I need my TV fixed and I pay a monthly bill and will not pay extra.  She refused to cooperate or listen to me just kept stating she understood my issue BUT you need this plan.  I finally was so angry at this person that I hung up and got on xfinity.com and selected the chat.   This person, I did not bring all this up to as I just needed my tv working.  They were super helpful and fixed my tv and even got me on a better plan.  All with no service plan for $99 lol.....SO my point is be careful about that miss dial of the number.  Apparently they are out there to catch people and scam them for money!!!!  BEWARE!

katwomankrj, Hi there! Thanks for taking the time out of your Thursday to reach out. As a victim of fraud before, I can understand the concern with raising awareness about those similar numbers. Thanks for sharing this. We are happy to hear that our chat team was super helpful by finding you a new plan and fixing the TV. If you ever need help, our team of experts over our forums page is here to help too.  Bad actors often use similar phone numbers to impersonate authorized Xfinity representatives, unfortunately. If you receive a call from this number or dial a similar number to someone selling support packages, we recommend that you do not engage. Instead, hang up and call the official Xfinity number, 1-800-Xfinity (1-800-934-6489) or reach out over social media, to verify any claims. Always be cautious of unsolicited communications asking for personal information or payments, and check for signs of deception, such as misspellings or low-quality graphics in emails or websites. Here is a great link to more details on Protecting your self from fraud. Please let us know if this helps.
