Misleading email advertisement

Dear Xfinity Support,

I received an email from Xfinity on September 25, 2024, with the subject line:

“Available now. iPhone 16 Pro ON US + upgrade with no trade-in or new line required…”

However, after opening and reading the full email, I found no mention of this offer being available without a trade-in or new line. The body of the email either doesn’t explain the offer at all or appears to contradict what was stated in the subject line.

I have already attempted to contact Xfinity about this issue but have not received a clear or helpful response.

This is misleading and appears to fall under deceptive advertising, as it gives the impression that a free iPhone 16 Pro is available without the usual conditions—when that may not actually be the case.

Can you please:

  1. Confirm whether this offer is legitimate, as stated in the subject line;
  2. If not, explain why the subject line advertised something that isn’t actually available;
  3. Provide the full terms and conditions of the actual promotion.

I’d appreciate a written response, as I’m considering filing a formal complaint with the FTC and the California Attorney General’s office if this matter isn’t resolved clearly and transparently.

Thank you,

[EDITED: Name]

@user_2rii0e We appreciate you connecting with us here in our community about the email advertisement. We're sorry to hear this caused some confusion. As you know there are very many fraudulent emails going around and many of them are using our name and logos. We'd be happy to look into this more. We would have to review the actual email in order to confirm it came from us. Also, you mentioned receiving this from us dated September 25, 2024. This would take a bit more research to see what promotions we had active at that time as our promotions are for a limited time. We do have many Xfinity Mobile promotions we can go over with you currently if you would like to learn about them. If we may, can you confirm you are a Xfinity Internet customer currently?

@XfinityLinda so I’d like to inform you the email is definitely legit. And I don’t mind sending it or forwarding it back to you guys. Also I made contact with you guys when I got the email I even went to an Xfinity store to have the email verified and I’ve been waiting on contact since. And yes I am a current customer.

@user_2rii0e Thank you for confirming the validity of the email, and your status as a customer. Do you recall a ticket getting opened for you at the store? Or what did the store associates say would be the next steps to assist you?

@XfinityLinda they just told me to contact you guys again via the phone. They said even if it was approved they wouldn’t be giving me a phone from their store. And I do believe there was a ticket. Also I’ve recently contacted customer support and spoke to them about this matter. I’m waiting on a response still and thought it would’ve been by now.
