Message not sent: invalid destination address

I am unable to send messages in some group chats or receive any messages. There have been cases where people have made a group chat with me and sent messages and I do not even see it on my end. This is not the case for all group chats though.

I am using Google Messages on an Android. I switched from Verizon to Xfinity a few months ago and have noticed this error for a while.

I have tried a lot of recommended fixes like deleting the app's cache, restarting, resetting network settings, resetting APN (did not change and is still a Verizon reference as far as I can tell). How can this be fixed?

We appreciate you reaching out to us over our Community Forums, @user_0l9q9f. We would be more than happy to help get you pointed in the right direction. Based on the information provided, this sounds more like a messaging provisioning or porting issue associated with the move from Verizon to Xfinity Mobile. I found a few issues that may be causing your concern.

RCS provisioning is stuck. When you moved from Verizon, your number may not have fully de-registered from Verizon's messaging systems before being activated on Xfinity Mobile.

Please try the following:
*Open Google Messages
*Tap your profile picture
*Messages Settings
*RCS chats
*Turn RCS off
*Restart the phone
*Wait a few minutes
*Turn RCS back on

Check whether the status changes to Connected.

Group MMS settings are not working correctly. Some group chats still use MMS rather than RCS. You will want to verify the following.

*Mobile data is enabled
*MMS messaging is enabled in Google Messages settings
*You can send and receive picture messages

If picture messages fail, the issue is likely with account provisioning rather than the messaging app.

Incomplete port from Verizon. Since the problem began after switching carriers, there may be an issue with the number's SMS/MMS routing records. This can result in:

*Messages going to the wrong carrier backend
*Missing group texts
*Certain recipients seeing delivery failures
*Receiving only some messages in a group thread

Corrupted group thread. If the issue only affects a few groups.
*Ask someone to create a brand new group chat
*Test messaging there
*Compare whether the new group works while the old one does not

SIM/eSIM reprovisioning needed. If the issue has existed for months and affects multiple group conversations, The Xfinity Mobile Team may need to refresh the line's messaging provisioning.
