Lightning strike

Sunday, June 14th 2026 at approximately 9:45 p.m. est. Lightning struck outside my house. Electricity traveled down the coaxials leading into my house. One led to a" cable box" and one led to a gateway. The cable box was destroyed internally. It would cease to function /power on. The gateway on the other hand was a bit more terrifying. The gateway had a terrifying electrical pop. Then the current traveled through the gateway down the cat5 wire into my computer. Then it destroyed my 4080 graphics card, one of the cooling fans, and two out of my three monitors that were plugged in. Is there any compensation for something like this?

user_mplt3f Thank you for reaching out to us today over our Xfinity Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear about the lighting strike causing damage to your property. Have you had one of our technicians out to inspect the damage to the coaxial network, and the coaxial cable ground block?

@XfinityMartyR My apologies for double posting this.

A technician was out Monday morning (the following day). He knocked on my door to tell me services were restored. Then I told him I don't have service right now because the gateway was destroyed from last night's storm. I coincidentally was leaving at the same time when he was knocking on the door and I had it in my hand and showed him. He just shook his head when I told him " I'm going to get this replaced right now at the closest Xfinity place".
