Issues with Recently Installed Underground Cable
We recently had a new Xfinity underground service cable installed at our home. The cable was routed diagonally across the middle of our backyard and buried very shallowly (approximately 2–4 inches below the soil surface). We encountered the cable while doing ordinary landscaping by hand and had to stop digging to avoid damaging it.
During the initial installation, the technician left the cable above ground and told us another crew would return to bury it. When the burial crew arrived several days later, they buried the cable without speaking to us or discussing the permanent placement.
The current routing and shallow burial significantly interfere with normal use and landscaping of our backyard.
We’d appreciate having Xfinity review this recent installation and evaluate possible corrective options, ideally rerouting the cable along the perimeter of the yard.
Could this be escalated to the appropriate field or construction team for an installation review? We have photos showing the shallow burial and can provide additional details privately.
Thank you!
