Is Xfinity Rewards email legit?

I received an email from support@xfinityrewardswinners.com stating that I won a sweepstakes that I entered in the Xfinity Rewards portal, which is true as my entry shows up in my account. Trying to confirm if this is legitimate, as the whole process for redeeming the prize is clunky and rather sketchy looking. Comcast CSA believes it is spam, but I did a trace on the domain and it goes back to GMR Marketing, who appears to be operating the contest for Xfinity based on the terms and conditions for the sweepstakes in the portal. Also, the Xfinity membership FAQ page states that if you win, you’ll receive an email from a different address, support@xfinitywinners.com. This domain also traces back to GMR Marketing. Wondering if someone would be able to help me investigate this.

Hey there @Jrst1! First off, a huge congratulations on your win! It’s fantastic that you’ve been keeping such a close eye on your account security! It is perfectly normal to feel cautious when a redemption process looks "sketchy". When you log into the Xfinity app or the Xfinity membership portal does the reward show as "claimed" or "win confirmed" in your activity history?

 

If you view the email in the Xfinity Connect webmail portal, do you see a red Xfinity logo next to the subject line or above the "From" address? This is our official digital signature.

The message was sent to a third party email account that I provided when entering the sweepstakes, so I can’t confirm the digital signature. Will it show if I forward it? In the membership portal, it says that the sweepstakes has ended and that my entry has been received and will get an email if I win.

@Jrst1 In your third-party email (like Gmail or Outlook), click the "down arrow" or "details" next to the sender's name. Does the "mailed-by" or "signed-by" field show gmrmarketing.com? If so, that is a strong indicator of legitimacy.

Note that xfinityrewardswinners.com is owned by GMR Marketing, LLC when doing a lookup.

Those technical details are actually a great sign! Specifically, the domain xfinityrewardswinners.com is a verified secondary domain used by GMR Marketing to manage the fulfillment of large scale sweepstakes for our Xfinity membership program. 

The legitimate GMR redemption site will never ask for your Xfinity password or any form of payment (like a "shipping fee").

 

If the email matches the contest you entered and doesn't ask for your password, you should be safe to proceed with the redemption steps.

@XfinityQuemekia​ The website asked to create an account to redeem the prize but it is separate from the Xfinity account and it did not ask for the Xfinity credentials. No credit cards or SSNs were asked for either. If this is the legitimate site, I recommend updating your membership FAQ page with the correct email and to train the phone agents on this so they’re aware. I would not be surprised if people have lost out on prizes because of this. CSA was certain that it was a phishing attempt.
