Is Complete Recovery a scam?

I received a call from compete recovery saying that they are partnered with Xfinity and that I need to turn in a piece of equipment. However, when I called xfinity they said that there was not request for it to be returned. I am a college student and am super scared of being charged for this. is there a way to confirm what is going on is fake? please help.

I received the same thing! Then I went to chat with someone and they stated "I have checked the details for you please be rest assured there is no any unreturned equipment on your account". I am not sure what is going on with this!
