internet speed

I’m paying over $100 a month for Xfinity Gigabit Internet, but my download speed is only around 25 Mbps. Who am I supposed to contact to actually get this issue resolved?

Can you run a speed test connected to wifi on your phone? This would be a great place to start to test for speed issues if your computer or device is at fault.

user_i5f8yx - Hello! You’ve come to the right place for help with troubleshooting your Xfinity Internet. We know how important it is to stay connected, and we’re here to make sure you get the most out of your service. We’ll start by asking a few questions so we can better understand what’s happening and work together toward a fix. As a quick tip, the Xfinity app is a great tool for checking your account status and troubleshooting service issues. It’s easy to use and very effective.

To begin, could you share a little more about:

Which devices you’ve tested your speed on?
Whether the tests were over WiFi or a wired connection?
Any troubleshooting steps you’ve already tried?

Here are a few helpful checks you can try while we work through this together:

Check for service interruptions: Use the Xfinity app or website to see if there are any known interruptions in your area and even sign up for alerts if impacted.
Verify equipment: Make sure your modem is compatible with your speed tier and not at its end-of-life by checking at mydeviceinfo.xfinity.com.
Consider upgrading to an Xfinity Gateway.
Inspect cables: Ensure the coaxial cable is finger-tight at both ends and check Ethernet cables for damage.
Power cycling and optimization tips:

Unplug your modem and/or router for at least 60 seconds, then plug them back in (modem first, then router).
Place your gateway or router in a central, open location, away from walls and electronics.
Thank you for being our eyes and ears on the other end and allowing us the chance to help out.
