Internet out after excavation - cut cables visible outside townhouse

Utility work has been done next to my townhouse, and it looks like buried wires were cut, at the same time my internet went out and has been out. I can’t find a way to report this to Xfinity since the chatbot tells me it’s either a modem issue or I need to schedule a technician at cost.

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

user_iaemwd - Thank you for your feedback and for joining us here on the Xfinity Forums. We appreciate the opportunity to help. The Xfinity Assistant and the Xfinity app can help troubleshoot service issues, schedule technician appointments, and provide details on what to expect before a service visit, including any applicable charges. For example, if a technician determines that the reported issue is not related to Xfinity services or Xfinity-owned rental equipment, a $100 service charge may apply. However, this fee is waived for existing customers when the issue is determined to be related to Xfinity services. How to schedule and manage your Xfinity appointment. If the line has been cut, any applicable service charge would be waived. However, we are still required to review and disclose the possibility of service visit charges whenever scheduling a technician appointment. Does that make sense?
Our team can also assist with scheduling a technician visit. Please let us know if you'd like our help scheduling an appointment, or if you prefer to use the available self-service options. We're happy to support you whichever way works best for you.

Do I need to be home for the visit if it’s an exterior issue?

user_iaemwd Great question! Someone will need to be present over the age of 18. The technician will repair/replace the cable and check on your connectin to confirm it's working before they can complete the appointment.
