Internet connection issues - DNS service might be unavailable

I lost power & internet service on Saturday morning.  Power has been restored, but internet is still not working.  I have done all of the restarting tips recommended through the online portal but still to no avail.  When i log on, it says that there are no service issues, but I'm wondering if the tree that fell and knocked out a power line may have damaged the Xfinity line to my home locally.

I tried to make an appointment but the first one available is Monday 8/17/26.  I cannot go without internet for over a week as i work from home.  Is there anything you can do to assist?  I have been a very long time customer with Xfinity for both internet & cellular service.

Thank you,

Brian

Hello @user_wra08w Thanks for reaching out. In these cases even though the power is restored sometimes the service could still be out due to power not being restored at the plant or node that provides service to your area, or as you said a tree on the line, storm damage, etc. But in those cases our local teams are already out working on repairing or working with the electric company to restore what we can.

In terms of appointments we typically have the same availability that you do on your end. You are able to check and manage the appointment through the Xfinity app. You can also join a waitlist by texting the word "waitlist" to 266278.

Have you followed the steps found HERE to check if there are reported service interruptions in the area still?

Thanks Matthew - the issue is when i log into the app, it indicates that there are no issues with my service.  I'm simply not sure that they are aware of the issue.  Is the appointment I've made for someone who can inspect the line that is from the street to my house, or for someone who would be coming into my home?

@user_wra08w  our technician will be able to get service online. Does the app show your equipment offline?

It indicates that my home internet is offline and to unplug my gateway or modem/router.  When i go tot the Xfinity assistant it says that there are no outages in my area.

I appreciate the clarification @user_wra08w. I know it’s tough when service is not working, especially when you work from home. There are various reasons why everything can be offline. A tech will be able to resolve the issue and get you more information.

Does the modem at the very least get a power light?
