Inquiry- Separate Xfinity service at same address

Hi all, I’m hoping someone can help me figure this out. I’m trying to get my own Xfinity internet service at a single-family home where my brother (who lives in the basement) already has his own separate Xfinity account and service. He doesn’t want to share his connection, so I’m looking to set up my own.

When I check online, it does give me the option to create a new account at this address and order service, but it only offers a self-install kit—no technician option.

There’s no multi-unit designation on the home, so it’s not like a duplex or anything officially. I’m wondering:

  • Can I get my own separate Xfinity account at the same address without interfering with or canceling my brother’s service?
  • Has anyone successfully done this in a similar situation?
  • Are there any issues or limitations I should be aware of, like signal interference, installation conflicts (cables, ports, etc.), billing confusion, etc.?

Basically, I’m desperate, Xfinity is the only good service provider around, and I’m begging, please take my money and give me internet.

Any advice or experience would be appreciated—thanks!

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

nullgorithm Thank you so much for stopping in for help if there is an option to set up an additional account for internet services at one location. In some areas, we can have two lines of service at the same address that would depend on where you are. If you could send our team a direct message with your full name, the name listed on the account (if different), and the service address associated with your account, I'd be more than happy to look into this for you. To send a Direct Message, please click on the chat icon in the top-right corner of the screen, next to the bell icon, and then type or select "Xfinity Support" to initiate a direct message.

For anyone wondering, problem is unresolved.

I was told they would need to install hardware and run another drop line to install service (which is why I would’ve paid the technicians to come, obviously), but that they are not willing to do it. Essentially, the only solution is for USPS to recognize my address as two separate addresses. They did not give further guidance on this, but upon research this is very tricky and could cost thousands and include inspections as the city/town/village or zoning department would have to approve and inspect the premises. Horrible customer service, not willing to literally take my money to give me a service over something so insignificant as an address registration. It is ridiculous as I’m sure many others have had similar experiences of not being able to have the internet be shared in a shared household due to a roommate, family member, etc.

You’d thing the C-Suite execs would want to get as much money as possible. Apparently not, as the company discriminates against those who share households/the same address.
